About Carol Hicks

At present I live in Virginia. Creativity is my passion whether it's acrylic paintings or vector graphics. I enjoy exploring color harmonies in my paintings. I find painting nature endlessly fascinating, and I sometimes blend it with metaphysical symbols.

During my career, I worked as the head artist at Glassmasters, Inc. in Richmond, VA, where I created reproductions for major museums like the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, the Art Institute of Chicago, and the National Gallery in Washington, D.C. I designed original artwork for Glassmaster's giftware line. I also worked as a web designer and developer at Edgar Cayce's A.R.E. Along the way I have designed textiles, short videos, illustrations and book covers.

I challenged myself to create a simple portfolio site with HTML and CSS that works on all kinds of devices and loads quickly. My goal was to have the pages load in under 2.5 seconds. There are so many options now to build sites and web apps but sometimes their attempt at ease of use seems more difficult than writing HTML.
